How to Make Your Kids Eat Healthy Food

It is hard to eat well as a parent. Aside from being busy and on a limited budget, you’ve also got to put up with your kids’ picky eating habits. For a lot of parents, this means that they start eating unhealthy food “fast food” rather than trying get their kids to eat healthy.

Rather than subject yourself to eat mac n’cheese, here are some tips for getting your kids to eat healthy.

Teach your kids about food ingredients and manufacturing

With all the processed foods dominating our lives, kids are becoming increasingly jaded (and downright stupid) about food origins. Studies have found that kids would likely to eat what’s sweet and advertised on Tv.

As Hippocrates said, you are what you eat. The meaning of this phrase concerns every person, who takes care of his health. The food we eat has a big impact on our vital activity, state of health and quality of life.

Nowadays healthy diet is very popular and everyone knows that he should give up junk food. But not everyone knows what he must eat except for grain, vegetables and protein food.

It's essential to diversify your diet. Every bite of food should provide you with vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are necessary for good health.

So how can we have a proper nutrition plan?

We prepared a PDF-file to help you. It contains TOP-10 ingredients, which should be added to everyone's diet.

Give your kids some credit: They are capable of understanding concepts like chemical additives, calories, hydrogenated oil, and trans fats. But it is up to you to educate them!

little kids can still learn the basics of healthy food. My 2 year old can’t understand what “hydrogenated” means, but she does understand that mama picks up snacks and reads their labels first to see if they contain anything “yucky”. Once she hears this, she doesn’t beg for the product anymore.

Take your kids shopping with you

Now that your kids are educated about food ingredients, take them shopping with you. I know one mom who turns shopping for healthy foods into a scavenger hunt. She tells her kids things like “find a breakfast cereal which contains less than 10 grams of sugar.” The task not only makes shopping fun, but helps teaching the kids about how to make healthy food choices.

Cook together

For most parents, this is probably the most effective way to get kids to eat healthy food(and get in some quality time together too).

Get your kids involved in the entire process, such as letting your child choose a healthy recipe from a cookbook to make (kids love it when they feel like their opinion matters, especially for something as important as what the family will eat). When kids are involved in the process of choosing and cooking healthy meals, they will be much more excited about trying new things and eating food from their choice,Even small kids can get involved.

I always give my 2 year old a choice (do you want peas or corn with dinner?) and she is already good at helping mama cut up soft foods like mushrooms and zucchini. True, she might make a mess when stirring up crepe batter, but the cleanup is worth it for how much fun she has helping out in the kitchen.

Eat Together (and not in front of the TV)

A recent study found that family dinners curb obesity in children. The longer that the families sat down for dinner, the less likely the kids were to be overweight. This news shouldn’t be too surprising. If you emphasize the importance of eating meals by sitting down with the family, then kids are more likely to learn good eating habits.
